The PF3000 is an interactive wall of touch-programmable 4-inch pixels where participants draw and animate images and symbols with blocks of colorful light. These super-sized pixels light up and change color with the touch of the hand, and with 256 individual blocks in a wide range of customizable colors, aspiring pixel artists can make retro sprites, abstract designs, and everything in between. In an art community oversaturated with interactive and retro-inspired artworks, the PF3000 transcends the genre. It’s a design platform that will inspire and give viewers a hands-on, personal encounter with the earliest intersection of art technology-- from a time when video games moved from niche hobby into mainstream consciousness.
The first iteration of the PF3000 launched at the 2023 Autumn Lights Festival in Oakland California where it won an award. We're not raising funds for additional improvements including upgraded diffusion and interactivity as well as enhanced portability.

The PF3000 supports a Floppy Disk load system using 5.25" floppies from like 40 years ago. For 20 dollars, enough to light a single pixel, we will not only give you mad kudos on our website - we will also give you a 5.25" floppy disk you can use to save/load your pf3000 creations. A floppy can store up to 10 frames of animation allowing you to design the coolest 8bit animation you can think of.
We will hook up a limited edition it will be okay enamel pin. We love the idea of leveraging this little bit of good will in order to raise money for an art piece that will inspire, education, and entertain thousands. This pin was custom designed by Filma artists in order to put a little hope into the world while simultaneously enabling the arts. These pins make great reminders for ourselves and great gifts for those we care about.
In addition to the pin, you'll still totally get a 5.25" floppy as well so you can be super cool and store your pf3000 creations.
In advance of our grand unveiling, hopefully at the 2023 autumn lights show we will host, well, YOU, right here at Filma Collective for a private early access showing of the PF3000. We will have the whole thing built, right here at Filma head quarters in Richmond, CA and you and your favorite +1 and/or kids will be invited to see the PF3000 before anyone else. Plus, you know, we'll kick down floppies and pins.
We will install the PF3000 where ever you choose** (please read the fine print) - for four to six hours. Just think, you and all your friends can frolic and draw in your backyard impressing your whole neighborhood with dope pixel graphics. As long as your location of choice meets our installation requirements (listed below) we will show up with a full crew and build this art piece for your event (or non-event). Having an art piece like this in your living room for a day is about as good as it gets.
PF3000 installation requirements:
- large flat area 8' wide and 7' tall
- 120V electrical outlet
- a physically safe & accessible location (so not on the top of the golden gate bridge)
- the installation will remain available for up to 6 hours
- we require a 2 hour setup time
- we require a 2 hour tear down time
- installation will need to be a saturday or a sunday cause we all got jobs
- this perk will be available in November 2023 and good for up to 1 year until December 2024
We totally reserve the right to reject any location if we feel it is inaccessible, unsafe, or unfit for the piece. That said, most living rooms, backyards, offices, and event halls are going to be totally cool
