Thank you for supporting RCS as we Walk the Wall!
During the week of April 19 to 23, RSC is Walking the Wall for China’s Most Vulnerable Children
Every year thousands of people all around the world take part in Walk the Wall in order to make a difference in the lives of China’s most vulnerable children. Since Walk the Wall began, millions of dollars have been raised enabling International China Concern (ICC) to transform the lives of children with disabilities. What is the RCS Walk the Wall?Richmond Christian School has been a partner with ICC for over ten years. For the last ten years, RCS has taken part in ICC events because we believe in the work that ICC does. In order to do that, we have developed a Covid-safe plan that will enable our students to walk safely, enjoy a fun event and raise funds that will help China’s most vulnerable children. During the week of April 19 to 23, RCS students will be walking in our individual class groups to raise funds for ICC. You can make a difference!
Who is International China Concern? Our partner, International China Concern, has been serving children with disabilities in China for 27 years. ICC works with hundreds of families that have children with disabilities, providing them with the support and services they need so that they never have to make that desperate and devastating decision to abandon their child. In situations where children have been abandoned by their families, ICC steps in to provide family-style homes for these abandoned children. A place where they are loved and nurtured, and receive the therapy, education, medical care and vocational training that these children need in order to flourish and thrive. How we'll walk and keep safe during CovidDuring the week of April 19 to 23, each RCS Elementary class will have a specific time to do their walk in their individual cohorts. Weather permitting, classes will either walk outside or in the school gym. Each grade will walk a different distance and will be age appropriate. Students will be given opportunities to learn more about ICC and their students’ stories during Walk the Wall. We will follow all Covid protocols to ensure that studentsand teachers stay safe.

Meet BeibeiBeibei was abandoned at two months old and came into ICC’s care at 9 months. He has hydrocephalus, which causes abnormal swelling and increased pressure in the brain. Beibei has needed several operations to relieve his condition, including the removal of a tumour. Today he’s a smart, lively, and hilarious part of our ICC family! Give other children like Beibei access to health care that can make a difference in their life. ___________________________________ Why are we walking? At the beginning of this year we began learning about how we can get to know our hero - Jesus . Now, as we move through the year, we are moving our focus to how we can treasure our hero through becoming part of the change that God wants to bring into this world. There are many challenging situations in this world, but here at RCS we are choosing to help children with disabilities in China. When we look at the situation and needs of these children, we see an opportunity for our students to make a difference in the lives of these children; to show them that each and EVERY one of them is precious and deserves to be loved and cared for. |
