Global Gratitude Alliance helps transform intergenerational trauma into intergenerational healing - through programs that provide mental health resources to the most vulnerable communities around the world.

This summer, we are traveling to Kanungu, southwest Uganda, to teach somatic-based trauma healing and counseling skills to school teachers at Nyaka AIDS Orphan Project and local community leaders through Edja Foundation - serving 40,000 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and 7,000 grannies who are caring for them - some of them raising 5 or 6 children on their own.

The children not only suffer from trauma from watching their parents die of HIV/AIDS, but many have become targets of sexual violence. Like the little 5-year old girl raped by her grandfather, who contracted HIV from him because her family couldn’t afford the $6 medication that would prevent transmission of the virus... or the 9-year old girl who was raped by a 35-year old man, who tried to apologize by offering the girl's granny a goat.

Our inspiring partner, Edja Foundation, founded by SETH graduate, Tabitha Mpamira-Kaguri, is working with the community to end violence against women and children - to change the culture of silence and shame, educate survivors about their rights, and empower community members to protect the safety of women and children.

Your donations will fund training for Nyaka teachers and staff, local community leaders, and Edja Foundation clinic workers in trauma healing and counseling, address the victim-perpetrator cycle of abuse among boys and men in the community, and help our local partners implement trauma healing programs in the community.
