Lauren Dyck hasn't added a story.
Lauren's first taste of multisport was the summer of 2011, where she competed in a sprint duathlon race. She placed 4th in her age category, but had just been accepted to school at the University of Toronto. Her endurance career temporarily on hold, she continued with recreational running and cycling, but focussed primarily on her studies.
Several years and a Master's degree in Physiotherapy later, Lauren decided to try her hand again at the sport, this time chasing the full swim-bike-run sprint triathlon. During the summer of 2013 she raced in three races, and placed top 5 in each. Her hobby had become a mild obsession.
The following year, Lauren began working with coach Tommy Ferris from Ignition Fitness. With a more regemented and specific training program, she began to realize that her strengths lay in longer course racing. That year, she finished 5th at Ironman 70.3 Muskoka, as well as with several other podium finishes in races around Ontario. The following winter, Lauren dedicated her training to improving her time over the 70.3 distance and putting her name on the map.
Early mornings and late nights paid off. This past weekend, Lauren competed again in the Muskoka Ironman 70.3. She finished twenty-five minutes faster than her previous course time, and took third place in her age group. She was also awarded a qualification slot to attend the 2015 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Zell am-See, Kaprun, Austria on August 30, 2015.
With such little time to prepare, Lauren is asking for your help to help afford this incredible opportunity. Travel, accommodations, food, bike and equipment transport, and racing fees make competing in international triathlon an expensive venture. All donations, big or small, will be used to help Lauren experience triathlon on the world stage, and to continue to grow and learn as an athlete. She would love nothing more than to represent her friends, family, and Synergy Sports Medicine while racing against the best of the best from around the world.
With sincere gratitude,
Lauren Dyck
