Amy Riggins hasn't added a story.
Hello,
A friend of mine suggested that I use this medium to raise funds for our unexpected upcoming move to Washington. So I will start at the beginning and tell you what is happening.
A few weeks ago, I received a call from my mom letting me know that the house she inherited from my grandfather was now officially hers. My step- grandmother had been living there until she recently passed. She said that she was not able to move there and asked if I and my two girls are interested in moving to Washington to live. I was very surprised as I did not know that this would ever be an option for me.
For those that know me, they know that my life has been a series of very hard times in the last few years. We have been living in a mobile home for three years now. This home is somewhat small and cramped. We did not have a refrigerator even for the first 1 1/2 years as it would not fit. Our couches would not fit throught the doors either and were ruined after sitting outside for awhile and I had to throw them away, along with other things. I did finally get a small refrigerator in. You don't realize how lucky you are to have one until you have to go out to the shed all the time. This home has no air condition either, which is really fun in 100 plus heat, at times. In addition to this, in a nutshell, I have had health issues, been through a divorce and have had some other stressful situations.
The reason I say these things is because I have been feeling, so much, that I need to get away and just start over. I never really thought this a possibility as I don't make alot of money and struggle, for the most part, just to get by. I have a small jewelry business that helps some, but could not afford me to change much about my situation.
When I received this call, I felt so blessed that I was asked, but also very sick, not knowing how I would do it. I agonized over the decision as I knew I would have to literally start over with no job even. I got some advice from several people and everyone was very positive. One person said something that really stuck in my head. She said that I should not let fear dictate my decision. If we do that and do not step out in faith, we could stay stuck in the box that we created (loosely paraphrased). I decided to take the plunge. Though I still feel sick knowing that I don't have employment at this time and am not totally sure how we will make it, I also do have a peace about it.
The problem is that the move is extremely expensive. It was not something I planned or saved for. Bethany, my daughter, has offered all of her saved college money (she is really excited to go), but it is still going to be tough to pay for. We are going to rent a truck as it is the least expensive way to go. That, along with hotel stay (probably two nights) and gas is going to run us about $3,000. That and being able to live for a few months (hopefully less) until I get a job.. is way more than I have. I am trusting that it will all work out. I do believe that God will take care of this. In addition, I was told just today that I would have to delay my move a week as there are still people living there are need more time. This does cause some additional problems, but I am sure it will all work out in the end.
My friend told me that it would be a good idea to see if anyone is willing to help in this way because many cannot always help physically. It was so thoughtful of her as I did not even consider asking. I really did not think this a very worthy cause, but was told that she and others may want to help in this way. I am very grateful!
If you are willing to help in any way, you can do so through this Fundrazr. No amount is too small and is greatly appreciated. I will try to keep everyone posted, if I can, as to the progress of the move.
Though this is a very stressful time for me, I am also VERY grateful for this opportunity and really feel it will be a very good move for my family.
Thank you!
