Hey to all friends and family of John W. Taylor. This is Kay, John's baby daughter, and prayerfully, I decided to send out to all of you a request for any monetary assistance you would be willing to donate in dad's honor to help him receive the necessary treatment of proton therapy radiation and chemotherapy. In May of this year and certainly not by chance, it was discovered during unrelated testing, that he possibly had a mass detected in his lung. By July, after a bronchoscopy and PET scan, it was determined that he had a mass in the upper left lobe of lung and it had already begun to spread to a major lymph node near original mass. We were hopeful that PET scan was accurate and that it was contained, and if so, he would be able to receive the best treatment at MD Anderson in Texas. For this reason, MDA is the one leading cancer treatment center in the US and has one of only six proton machines in the states as well. The treatment is very expensive; and unforturnately, daddy's secondary insurance is only an indeminity plan which doesn't cover anything outpatient. My siblings and I have worked together trying to afford the trips to Texas and a place to stay. This has incurred an expense of approximately $9000.00 dollars as of August. We were blessed for our return to Texas to have had a company supply us a round trip airline ticket to get his treatments started. I am not setting a goal to cover all expense, but only some assistance. Daddy is doing well as of now after receiving several proton treatments and Chemo. God is so Good! His prognosis is said by doctors here to be REMISSION from the time it was discovered in May by October with the type of treatment he can receive here. Daddy was told by our local docs that he would have to have surgery to even get his lymph node biopsied and with my dad's medical history, he most likely would have had many complications. Here in Texas, they were able to biopsy in July simply by a needle into the lymph node over the heart. It is an incredible journey for which I am so fortunate to experience with my dad. I want to thank you in advance for any donation you may make, and if not able to at this time, prayers are most appreciated. With Lots of Love....Kay
