Aligator, or Ali, is my 1.5 year old Belgian Malinois Dog

About 2 weeks ago Ali broke her left rear leg & ankle participating in one of her favorite activities, dock diving, and will require surgery to repair it. There are talks of plates, pins, and possibly immobilizing the ankle joint permanently.

Aligator is such a vibrant pup, she lives her life to the fullest and gives 100 plus percent to us at all times.  After breaking her leg on the dock she still managed to jump in and retrieve her ball!  Ali is also my mountain biking partner, this is her number one favorite sport.  She is such an excellent trail dog, keeps up, polite, and loves the jumps and turns. its a shame to see her in the state she is in now.  Currently her leg is in a heavy splint and is completely immobilized.  She gets frustrated that she cant run and play with the other dogs, and even more frustrated when she sees the bike come out and she cannot come along.  It breaks our heart.

In this video, Ali is wearing the yellow bell on her collar.

Needless to say, we want the best for our Aligator.  If she cannot run and jump and live carefree, it will be devistating for both Ali and ourselves.  We are being consulted to Dr. Glennon and his partners here in the NY Capital region, they are regarded as being the best for orthopeadic surgery and just in talking with them have given her a good prognosis as to a full recovery even if total immobilization is needed.

It goes without saying that this is going to be outrageously expensive.

My fiance and are both hard working individuals and are putting in extra time at work just to make ends meet, we can usually make the unplanned visit to the vet work but this is more then we can do alone.  Since Ali's injury we have applied for CareCredit and have already dried it up, and at a 30% interest rate it will take some time to pay down.  This is where we are humbly asking for whatever donations people can give.  I have set up a PayPal account specifically for Ali's donations that we will be using for her upcoming surger, medications, and subsequent rehabilitation.  It is quite humiliating to have to come to the public and ask for help but it has also been humbling to see the love and support that freinds and complete strangers have for our Aligator.  Ali's love and joy for life is infectious and she leaves an impression on everyone she meets.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your time and your donations.  It means so much to us all.

Throughout Ali's process we will keep everyone posted as to how she is doing through stories, pictures and videos.  We welcome you to follow along through her journey!
