PARD Therapeutic Riding is a registered charitable organization that operates solely by the dedicated volunteers that give hours of their time every week not only to operate the program but also to raise funds along with public awareness. Volunteers have been the heart of our program for over 30 years in the Peterborough area.

The program is open to individuals of all ages and is beneficial to riders with many different disabilities. The "three-dimensional" motion of a walking horse mimics human walking and stimulates the rider, helping to enhance balance, posture, mobility, co-ordination and strength. Using the abilities of the rider, certified Instructors at PARD Therapeutic Riding provide individualized instruction that assists in rehabilitation and confidence of the riders.

In the fall of 2013 PARD Therapeutic Riding relocated our facility to a new host barn in South Dummer, Douro-Dummer Township, which is located just outside Warsaw, Ontario.

In order to better serve our riders, their families/care givers and volunteers that run our program we designed a larger more accessible tack building to house all of the specialized and regular equipment needed to facilitate the therapy PARD provides. Although we can recycle the majority of materials which were removed from the previous location, we do require additional materials to complete this project.

Monies received from Fuellocal fundraising will be used for the construction of the new more accessible tack building.

Direct beneficiaries of this project are our 34 riders that currently participate in the program along with all those riders who will enter the program in the future. The larger building will allow these riders the freedom to move about in our building independently.

The estimated cost of our tack building project is $30,000. This will allow us to purchase all necessary materials to complete a new more accessible tack building while construction of the building will be done by a group of our dedicated volunteers.
