Meghan Hutton hasn't added a story.
Gavin Michael-James Thompson was born on March 8th, 2012. He had no birth defects and we had no pregnancy problems. When Gavin was about 8 months we voiced our concerns with his peditrician because Gavin wasn't really reaching any of his developmental milestones. He wasn't sitting unassisted, he wasn't walking, and he wasn't crawling. He did roll. We didn't know what to do. The peditrician just kept telling us he will do it on his own. Most kids do. Then as it went on Gavin had a seizure. His first. Which can be a scary thing to see if you have never witnessed one. We called 911. He snapped out of it while the ambulance was on the way. We took him in and had him checked out. They called it a febrile seizure. Which for those of you who don't know that is when an infant has a fever and it suddenely spikes. Which some can't take so it causes their body to seize. We thought that would be it, as the ER said they grow out of them. Well he had another and another. The last one he has had was in Sept. 2013. He was hospitalized for 4 days. He spent the first 3 days in ICU, because he slept the whole time from all the medication he was given to stop the seizures. They were all back to back for about an hour. Then when he did wake he broke out in a horrible rash. They assured us it was nothing to worry about. That whole time he had test after test. Cerebral palsey has been ruled out. As well as Autism. He has had an MRI, CTScan and spinal tap. Nothing is telling us why he had troubles in the first place. Now they can't even tell if the seizures were febrile seizures. Since all of the tests have come back negative which is a good thing we are back at square one. He will see a geneticist in June to start genetic testing. He currently still sees a neurologist, a physical therapist, a speech therapist, an occupational therapist, and he also sees a deietician. He will soon be recieving braces for his legs because his feet are turning outwards. He also is getting braces for his hands because he keeps them clenched into fists 24/7. He is taken care of by his loving father Thomas. I work all day and attend some online classes at the moment to obtain my degree, but every moment I am not doing those things I spend with those two boys. Before work pretty much every day I am on the phone calling about appts, and calling to make new ones. He is a smart and caring two year old. All he wants to do is get up and walk around. So far all he has been diagnosed with is hypotonia and spasticity. The doctors don't know where that is even coming from. He doesn't have a formal diagnosis. He just needs love and care and lots of attention. WE love you Gavin Butt and we all have Faith For Gavin. Along with raising funds to help Gavin get the appts that he needs we are also going to donate 10% to a childrens Hospital.
