We see one of the greatest challenges for the Child with Special Needs is to start thinking differently. Often these children have no vision of self; of what they can or want to do. Before making a change outside, the change has to happen within each child. From their earliest days they have been continuously reminded of what they “cannot do” rather than what they “can do”.

Establishing self-worth, building confidence from a very early age by showing that each person has something valuable to contribute to society and that they do have the ability to interact with others will build their individual sense of purpose.

Over the past decade, we have seen that a computer education has become very essential for the disable student especially if he or she wants to continue their education through high school and onto higher learning. It has proven to be a major asset in securing employment or pursuing a career.

This knowledge will help him or her to be self-dependent in their life and it will help them to build a better future. Starting with computers in the classroom of the hearing impaired we can open a whole new world of possibilities expanding each child’s imagination as to what he or she may be able to do with their life.
