Ait Abdi is a small Berber village situated in the poorest region of Morocco in the High Atlas Mountains. It is inhabited by 30 families, most of them earning their living from small-scale farming. Since 2008 a private International network for support to the people of Ait Abdi has supported a small primary school in the village. The plans for our support are continuously updated as a result of our dialogue with the children and their teachers and parents. After the repairing of a leaking roof, the installation of new windows, electricity and a water toilet, our network is now focusing on building the infrastructure for new technology in the school.  In general our goal is to support the children in their development of competences that are relevant to master their present and future daily life in the tension between tradition and modernity.

We ask you to contribute to the funding of Ipads to the children, and a computer to be used by the teacher plus a projector and a canvas. In this way we want to give the children the possibility to use modern pedagogical tools in general, and new and intuitive software for Ipads (dragon box 5+) especially. This software is designed - and well documented - to dramatically enhance the children´s competences in the algebra. The teachers and the children are very enthusiastic.

The experiences from this project will be used as inspiration and model to other schools in the region in collaboration with the local school authorities. As a part of a larger action research project this project - trying out new technology in school - will be evaluated by our research team at Lillehammer University College in Norway.

We need to raise 50.000 NoK before 2nd of April in order to start this important part of our project within this year. Three of us in the action research team will be in Ait Abdi and do the necessary fieldwork during 5 weeks in April-May. This will ensure that this part of our project will be able to start when the school in Ait Abdi starts after the summer, if we reach our campaign goal.

The price for one Ipad in Morocco is 3.000 dirham, which is around 2,200 NoK. The school  need 20 Ipads in addition to the computer, projector and canvas. All contributions are welcome, small, medium and big.

Please help us to make the children´s dreams come through!
