Going through all of my pictures I think I found one that sums up 2013.  Grass up to your waist and ticks everywhere...who's ready to join in?  This is what the Friends faced last year.

Summer 2013So while we are dealing with another snow / ice storm the Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery are hard at work preparing for the upcoming spring / summer.  Which sections to open up, what to plant, which trees need to come down,...these are all items that we are wrestling with.

Many wonder how a small doantion can make a difference.

  • $4.00 buys a gallon of gas to keep a mower going for an hour.
  • $25 will help clear fallen branches from the paths used by runners, walkers, and dog walkers.
  • $100 pays for a run to Home Depot to pick up supplies. (weed whacker line, chainsaw blades, poison ivy killer, and tick repellent)
  • $250 covers the cost of a cleanup event. (gloves, water, food, port-a-lav for 100 volunteers)
  • $500 covers the cost of replanting stately trees.
  • $1000 will help make much needed captial improvements to the roads and fences.

Back in 2011 we were handed a real mess.  Construction material was dumped everywhere, broken bottles, and trash were commonplace.  With the help of several universities, businesses, and the general public Mount Moriah Cemetery is beginning to turn the corner but we still need your help. Please help us continue the preservation and restoration of Mount Moriah Cemetery.
