Mary Lee Caldwell is my 30-year-old little sister that is fighting for her life at UAB hospital. She got sick on Dec. 26, 2013 and went to the doctor for the first time on Dec. 31 where she tested positive for the flu. She didn't get better on her own and went back on January 3. Her blood oxygen level was 56 and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance where she was diagnosed with pneumonia. From there she was transported to a regional hospital and went into ICU on January 6. She has been on a ventilator ever since. On January 8, my dad had a heart attack while in the emergency room at the same hospital. Mary Lee also got transferred to UAB Hospital that day. My dad was discharged from the hospital on January 9 and is at home recovering when not in Birmingham visiting little sister. My mom and family have been staying with Mary Lee ever since. People have asked how they can help in our time of need which is why this fund has been created. The goal is to use it to help Mary Lee in her recovery process as well as to help my family with unexpected expenses due to her illness and treatment. Thank you so much! Kelly
