Wendy Scott hasn't added a story.
1-23-14 This is Percy (formally Paco).....Eat your hearts out because he is going to ask Melanie to be his Valentine!! How adorable is he? I love this dog and his indomitable spirit! Thank all of you for helping Melanie, ARF and I to help him!! He is recuperating, doing his therapy and amazing everyone!
!-21-14 Thanks everyone for helping me!! I'm resting now and will feel better soon but i still can't believe my luck! My tail still wags, my foster brothers missed me and Melanie came back for me! I am the luckiest dog in the world and want to thank all my guardian angels!!
from Melanie: Percy update: he is home and resting and he ate his dinner. The surgery went great. He had both of his lower canines removed and they found a retained root from a molar. Probably from previous trauma of some kind or a past dental gone bad. Dr. Peak did an artificial bone graft that will help his jawbone regrow since he is missing about half of the bone in his lower jaw (from neglect). Thank you to everyone that has helped through donations and support. I am glad today is over. He was so happy to see me when I picked him up. He seemed surprised that I came back for him.
From Wendy: Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and donations for this little guy! He is a testament to the spirit of DOG and you are the reason we can do this! My heartfelt thanks for all his guardian angels, Melanie (and her Dad), who stepped up, found the care, took him to many appts and will keep up the awesome rehabbing!! Thanks!
Original letter:
My name is Percy (aka Paco). I’m only 10 yrs (or so) but I have lots of sad experience with shelters. I was in a shelter in New jersey, (my jaw was broken) and if ARF didn’t come and save me I would’ve been taken to the scary room. Then I was adopted by a couple in Florida and somehow i ended up in shelters here a couple times. I got real close to the scary room there (phew) but someone said they’d better check for a microchip one more time. Bingo- they found Susan at ARF - who went to work getting me out and pawtentially travelling back to New Jersey. From the first picture, as you can see, they didn’t think I’d make it.
I was so cold and my eyes hurt so much that I almost forgot about my jaw pain. A woman took me to a nice man (Melanie's dad) and we went for a long ride across the state.
I was taken to the most wonderful pawson in the world. Melanie knows all about eye disease (I’ve seen an eye doctor- I can’t pronounce ophthomologist), and ticks (she took off at least 75!), a groomer who took out all the mats and now my eyes are much better too. Melanie couldn’t call me Paco because of the horrific shape I was in! Now I have to see a dental surgeon because my blood work needs help. The Vet that Mel knows won’t touch my rotten teeth because of my broken jar- she cannot repair it. No one knows how or where it was wired and may have to be re-done! Ouch, I will be in pain but since Santy Paws and Mrs Claws delivered me to Melanie (with ARF, Wendy and her Father helping!), I know a big bunch of animal lovers won’t let Wendy , Melanie & ARF get stuck with Vet bills. Pawlease help with donations and prayers. If you want a mailing address email Melanie- melgoodman77@hotmail.com or Wendy -wscott@yorkez.com for a mailing address for checks.
Thanks for helping me become “Percy”- a dog that will be furever grateful and well cared for!
Love & Wags!
