Tomo Sayer hasn't added a story.
When Emma was 20 weeks pregnant a routine scan revealed a problem with Somers heart. When Somer was born 8 weeks early she was rushed to Southampton intensive care where she stayed for many months, she was diagnosed with Noonans syndrome which included heart problems, growth problems and scoliosis.
At the age of 2 Somer had open heart surgery to close a hole and also have a donor valve put in to try and help the problems, this was another 3 months of trips to hospital but did recover and led a reasonable life for a few years.
In 2009 we noticed her spine was bent to one side, so after another visit to hospital it was revealed that Somer was now suffering from scoliosis which is curvature of the spine.
Somer then had to undergo a 9 hour operation to have titanium rods put into her back to try and straighten her spine, she was one of the youngest patients in the world to undergo this operation. She came through this and it helped her for 4 years and she enjoyed her passion for horse riding and fishing with her dad.
In 2013 we was told that the rods were not working so she would need another operation to put new rods in.
On the 4th September we took Somer back to Southampton to have these new rods put in, Somer was terrified to have this done and we reassured her it would all be fine and she would be home soon!
Unfortunately she had the 9 hour operation which went well apart from loosing 3 times the body volume of blood! her back is lovely and straight and we were so excited for her to wake and show her a transformed body, we had a call from theatre to say she was down in intensive care, we went down and sat with her while, she was taken of the the life support machines and everything looked good, Somer then went into cardiac arrest and they battled with her to get her heart beating again, after 20 minuets they got her back and stable, due to the 20 minuets of her heart stopping she has suffered brain damage and is paralysed on one side and has no speech, she can't even communicate with us to tell us what's she is thinking!
Somer was such a beautiful girl and lived life to the full even though she had so many problems.
We now are trying to raise money to help give Somer the rehabilitation and special equipment she will need to get our daughter back, we can't let this journey end here for Somer, please any donations would be so gratefully appreciated. We can't let this beat her xx
somer is such a fun little girl who brings joy to everyone she meets
so please please please help her to recovery thnakyou
