Roland is an 8 month old American Bulldog puppy with hip dysplasia. He may require a total hip replacement which runs about $5000.

Roland was born 1/31/13 and brought into our family 8 weeks later. When he was about 7 months old we noticed that his hips we subluxing (popping in and out of the socket) when he walked so we went into our local vet for xrays. We were then refered to the Orthopedic Center at the NCSU Veterinary School, where they confirmed our worse fears, hip dysplasia. Because of his age and size they think a total hip replacement will give him the best quality of life. We love our darling Roland, he is on his way to becoming a star at our local dog school and we have dreams that he can be a therapy dog because of his sweet easy going nature. We want to do what is best for him and surgery seems to be our best option, the problem is the price tag. $5000. They are waiting for him to grow some more before we make any defiant descions, we go back for new xrays in December, but we want to be prepared for the worst. If any extra money is raised / if the surgery costs end up being lower, the extra will be donated to the Randolph County SPCA, which was just started this past year, to help them build a no-kill shelter. Any amount would be helpful!
