Be the person who helps a family rise above poverty. Donate to my moving fund, and I will go to graduate school. I'll go to graduate school so good. It's paid in full. I earned it. All I have to do is move to Auburn. Anything helps, and thank you!
My name is Jessi Walker. I'm a writer, the mom of a bright and funny seven-year-old, a wife, and a graduate of Athens State University in Athens, Alabama. I started this fundraiser to move my family 220 miles from our hometown, because I have received a graduate teaching assistantship with full paid tuition to Auburn University. I am the first person in my immediate family to graduate from college, and this will be a life-changing experience for us all.
I worked very hard in my undergraduate studies, and that hard work has finally paid off. Beginning in August 2013, I will work as a part-time composition and literature teacher while earning my master's degree. After graduation I plan to write and teach English in a two-year college. All I need to do now is move with my daughter, Scarlett, to Auburn. We have an apartment lined up for the fall, but we do have to get our stuff moved into it, and moving into a new place is expensive. Despite my best efforts to cut corners, saving money as a fast-food employee is next to impossible. I am elated that I have this opportunity, and I would be so grateful for anything anyone could donate to help Scarlett and me with the costs of moving our family to Auburn. I promise that every penny we receive will go toward moving expenses. Thank you for viewing our page.
