As many good things do, Loo Tours began as a joke.
Though the fascination and humour remain integral to the project, it has developed a more serious social impact side, and I aim to attend the annual World Toilet Summit in Indonesia.
As many good things do, London Loo Tours began as a joke. Wouldn't it be a lark to do a guided tour of public toilets in one of the lavitorial capitals of the world? When I started researching for a walking tour of London's public toilets in late 2012 I hadn't imagined it would be anything more than a humorous pub tour with lots of loo breaks. Instead I found I had lifted the lid on something with such a serious social significance, which expands to the realms of politics, the environment, economics, and health.

Each year the World Toilet Association holds an international conference to bring together non-profit organizations, government bodies, academia and other industry players to address the sanitation crisis that affects 2.6 billion people globally. I would like to attend this year's conference, which will be held in Indonesia in October, to find new ways of linking academia, entertainment, entrepreneurship and positive social impact.

Your donation will go towards:

- Travel and accommodation
- Cost of attending the summit
- Continued research and development of the tour and its potential social utility both in London and internationally.
