Dear all potential supporters,

In the rural region of Bwindi in South West Uganda, 85% of the population live on less than 1 dollar a day and 50% are illiterate. 4 yeas ago the social enterprise Volunteer Uganda was set up with the mission statement to help bring about permanent, sustainable development through educational infrastructure development, job creation, health promotion and volunteering.

I'm lucky enough to have been accepted on the 2013 award winning Limited Resources Teacher Training programme, which takes UK teachers to Bwindi with the aim of supporting the community to develop its own education system. We will be sharing the knowledge gained from our own extensive training here in the UK, enabling Ugandan teachers (and therefore pupils) to benefit from it too. Having just completed a PGCE myself, I know first hand how important it is, even when faced with the keenest of students, to have a few strategies and techniques up your sleeve.

It costs £15 to sponsor a teacher to attend this training, so if I reach my goal of £450 we will be enabling 30 teachers to attend this training that would otherwise be unavailable to Ugandan teachers.

However, I don't expect you to pay up without me putting myself through some kind of ordeal...

I will be running the Edinburgh half marathon on 26th May. I've previously only run a 10K race, and this is (alarmingly) more than double that, but I am in training with some truly excellent folk who assure me I will make it to the finish line.

If you are able to sponsor me, any amount would be gratefully received.
