To whom it may concern,
Killinarden Community Council Youth Project (KCCYP) is funded under the Young People’s Facilities & Services Fund and has been working with the young people of Killinarden for nearly 9 years now. We currently engage with over 100 young people per week primarily through our Drop-in service which is based in Killinarden Community Centre. We aim to empower young people so that they may reach their true potential in life regardless of their social class. We deliver workshops, programmes and training to the young people that deal with the issues that they face growing up and hope in turn this will have a positive impact on their involvement in their own community.

KCCYP relies heavily on the support of Killinarden Community Centre (KCC) to run this service, not only the premises where we are based but also the commitment to opening the door to young people of the community and engaging them in a non-judgemental manner. Killinarden Community Centre itself has been working for over 26 years to support, strengthen and improve all areas of Killinarden. Several Highly regarded services are offered out of the Community Centre including Killinarden Estate Management, Killinarden District Youth Club, Local Bingo, and Christmas Hampers, Credit Card usage, Fax services, Printing, Photocopying, Laminating, online motor tax, Birthday Parties and much much more.
In light of the recent economic downfall and funding cuts, K.C.C is literally struggling to keep its doors open and keep these vital services in place. At risk is all the above services plus more, that will result in Killinarden becoming even more cut off from service’s that improve our community. This will have a devastating effect on the community as a whole-both young and old.

To tackle this issue and try keep the Community Centre doors open we have organised a day for fundraising which will include 7 local adults & young people taking part in a Sponsored SKY DIVE in Birr, Co. Offaly. We hope to raise VITAL funding through this fun activity that will mean Killinarden Community Centre can continue to provide the above named services to all those living in the community of Killinarden and that KCCYP will still have a premises to work form to engage with and support young people.

KCCYP and KCC are therefore ANYONE out there to kindly consider sponsoring or donating to our Sky Divers for this event and subsequently help keep these essential services available in Killinarden. We would be greatly appreciative if you would be interesting in sponsoring any amount possible and if you are interested in doing so you can contact either myself or Hilda Hamilton on the above number.
