Dear Family and Friends,

My name is Ibiye Amaso and I would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to participate in my journey to be the 2013 Miss Omega Psi Phi at Georgia State University. I am honored and humbled that I was selected as one of this year’s scholarship pageant contestants.
In regard to the 2013 Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant, my overall aim, as a contestant, is to bring awareness to the prevention of domestic violence. According to the Violence Policy Center, Georgia ranks number 15 in the nation for domestic violence. Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten. I believe by empowering young girls to see their self worth and capabilities through martial arts, they will blossom into women able to defend themselves emotionally and physically against domestic violence. The Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant will allow me the unique opportunity to further assist my community and help me further develop as a young woman.
The prestigious Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant is intended to acknowledge the strengths and achievements of women uplifting their community and also promotes scholarship, as it is one of the fraternity’s cardinal principles. As a result, The Annual Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant is a cause I have always desired to be a part of. In order to ensure that The 2013 Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant is a great success, I am collecting donations from family, friends, and industry and community leaders in order to finance the awarded scholarship as well as my participation in the pageant.
Currently, I am a senior at Georgia State University studying Accounting and Economics. I hope to attend law school and later use my degree to effectively change the political system in suffering African countries. I have always been taught to appreciate every situation in life. I was taught that in life we never truly stand alone, whether it is family, friends, or a complete stranger, there is always one person willing to lend a helping hand. Therefore, I have made it my goal to be involved in the community and to give back wherever possible. In high school, I spent most of my weekends volunteering with the Aids Walk of Atlanta, Asthma Walk, Breast Cancer Awareness, Habitat for Humanity, and March of Dimes. In college, I have been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Cool Girls Inc., Easter Seals Child Development Center, Habitat for Humanity, Hands on Atlanta, and the Project Success program with the 100 Black Men of Atlanta. I am currently an intern for the Lutheran Refugees Services of Georgia. I only hope that I can be a helping hand wherever there is a needy heart.
As we are all dedicated to providing the much needed help to our community, you are absolutely an ideal partner in helping bring awareness and promoting scholarship. I hope that you join me in this great cause and continue to support the community as a sponsor of The 2013 Annual Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant. Thank you for your sponsorship consideration and I hope to hear from you soon!

Warmest Regards,
Ibiye Aburiyeba Amaso
