Hello!
We are Tammy Fry and Ruby Fuller, Sato's LMA (Library Media Assistant) and SSC (Student Success Coach & Reading Specialist), and we need your help! According to Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, Professor Emerita of Education at The Ohio State University, our readers need more literature to provide mirrors that reflect and celebrate their unique experiences, windows to see the lived experiences of others, and sliding glass doors to walk through, so they can become part of another world and story.
To ensure our classroom libraries are as diverse and beautiful as the children who use them, we want to raise $2500 to purchase enough diverse books for 32 classrooms. Choosing books written by #ownvoice authors that challenge our readers to learn, explore, and celebrate one another is crucial to creating an inclusive classroom community and building strong thinking and reading skills.

Founded in 1988, the Beaverton Education Foundation raises money to provide hands-on innovative academic enrichment and advancement programs & projects that go beyond normal school funding at all Beaverton public schools and is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom projects, summer and after-school programs.
In the event that this project does not reach its goal or exceeds its goal, BEF may apply the funds received to another similar project.
