Josh is a five year old Red Nose American Pit-Bull Terrier. We found him here in Houston Heights starving, dehydrated and exhausted. His eyes were in such bad shape, he was basically walking around blind.

Josh is heartworm positive and is now starting his 30 days of doxycycline before his treatment. The treatment for his heartworm is going to cost approximately $1300. It was recommended to us that he gets it in three injections of Immiticide & additional Doxycycline and will take one year. The blood work & x-rays of his heart are also required since the medicine can be fatal if he has any other health problems.

Josh's eyes are in such bad shape and entropion surgery was recommended for both of them. They are very swollen and shut. Every time we apply medication we have to gently open both of them and be careful not to cause him too much pain. The surgery/procedure will cost $400 per eye, so $800 total.

Josh has a bad wound on his right hind leg. We think he might have been hit by a car. We are doing hydrotherapy for that twice a day and the doxycycline should help clear up any infection he may have with regards to the wound. Like any dog, Josh doesn't appreciate the cone on his head but his health and spirit is getting better with each passing day.

We are estimating Josh's medical care at about $3000. We are doing what we can to afford everything but we do need help. He has multiple issues and while we are hoping for the best, we need to be prepared for the complications as well. If you are willing to help Josh and bring this boy back to the good life he deserves, bless your heart and thank you.
