Who are we? We are a trouble of queers who believe in creativity and collectivity, in imagining together a world worth living in. Intersectional by default and critical by necessity, we are trying to create a space for us all of us, to world build together, and to practice the future in the now. Bricks and Glitter is a community arts festival, celebrating Two-Spirit, trans and queer talent, ingenuity, caring, anger, and abundance.

We are wanting Bricks and Glitter to be as accessible as possible, and sometimes (usually?) that costs money. In terms of ASL, we recognize the importance of not only ASL interpretation being available at as many events as possible, but also for hearing people within community to learn more (or even some!) ASL.  All funds raised on this page will go towards ASL interpretation at events as well as a free Queer ASL 101 class (or two depending on what is raised!) which will take place at the beginning of the festival.

Events that will be supported:
Currently there will be stage ASL interpretation available at our biggest event, the Outdoor Stage . We were able to raise $700 but still need to raise about $600 more to make this a full reality.
There is also conversational ASL interpretation available at the Sick and Disabled Queer Youth Zine Fair . This event has costs covered.
Finally, there is a Queer and Trans ASL Summer Retreat bottomlined by Hands on ASL where Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing & hearing folks are welcome to participate in activities and ASL workshops taught by Deaf and queer instructors all day long! It would be great to help offset cost for this sliding-scale event as well.

We also want ASL to be available by request at any other event and need funds to make this possible. We have over a dozen events planned! Rates for recent graduates are around $40/hour, and two people are needed to work at a time. So if ASL interpretation is requested at, say, a 3 hour workshop, we would need to raise $240 for that workshop alone. Stage ASL interpretation costs even more.

We also will be providing free/by donation Queer ASL classes taught by Queer Deaf people (which is all lined up we just need the funds), and need about $600 - 800 to make that a reality.

No amount is too small, no amount is too large. $5 helps, it really does. Donate if you can, share on facebook or with friends and family, and either way come check out an event or two at Bricks and Glitter!  <3
