Dottie came to Florida Dachshund Rescue extremely overweight. She could barely walk and her foster Mom immediately put her on a good diet and exercise and she lost 11 lbs. Unfortunately all the pressure the weight put on her back took it's toll and suddenly Dottie couldn't walk and of course, it was on the weekend!  She was rushed to an emergency vet and then transferred to another vet specialist for the surgery. They said she had several herniated discs and the surgery would be even more complicated due to her weight. FLDR agreed to have the surgery to save Dottie's life. She had the surgery and it went well. But Dottie has a long road to recovery. It will be difficult for her to learn to stand again, due to the excess weight.

Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated. We can't save dogs like these without funds from our supporters.
