Cultural Alliance 2015 Annual Campaign

5 Years running

Hi all -

As you know I have been focused on starting Working Class (in addition to my real job at Rudy Art Glass) over the past year so had resolved not to take on any other Board seats in the midst of this craziness. But then Mary Anne and Kelley from The Cultural Alliance came a-calling and I couldn't say no.  I joined the Board in January because I strongly believe in the direction that the Cultural Alliance is heading. In addition, they have an exceptional staff poised to execute their mission.

The Cultural Alliance serves as the funding agency for 8 core arts and culture partners in York County - The Strand, York Arts, The Heritage Trust, Greater York Dance, The York Symphony, York Junior Symphony, York Youth Symphony, and York Art Association.  These eight partner organizations rely on The Cultural Alliance for a significant amount of their budgets each year.

But what I am truly personally excited about beyond the eight partner organizations is The Cultural Alliance's dedication to promoting ALL arts & culture in York County. As a new arts organization in York at Working Class, The Cultural Alliance has been an invaluable resource to help connect us with the community members and grant dollars to help support our mission.

The Cultural Alliance gives out Creative Impact Awards each year to any arts organization or group of individuals with a worthy program to promote arts and culture in York County. Last year, Kable House Presents (a music series in Central Market) was funded through the Creative Impact Awards. This year, Working Class applied for an award for a program idea we have.

In addiition, we worked with The Cultural Alliance and the Rudy Collective to obtain a state PPA arts grant for a public art project with Cliff Maier - a glass artist working with us out of our building at Rudy.

Last year, The Cultural Alliance kicked off its first annual Impact Arts & Culture Conference in partnership with York College. Working Class was a partner and panelist in bringing this conference which attracted parties interested in the arts from all over the extended region. We are again working with them to make this year's conference an even larger and more impactful event. (pic from above is our work on The Litter Letter Project which was the keynote project of last year's conference).

In short, what I love about The Cultural Alliance is their focus on serving as the primary facilitator for the arts in our community - all arts - not just the art represented by the eight partners. If you are familiar with the number and breadth of these organizations you will recognize that it is imperative that we have such a highly effective and efficient organization like The Cultural Alliance serving this role.

But to do this, they need our support. They are kicking off their 2015 annual campaign to raise $1 Million for arts & culture programming in York County. We need you to make this happen.

Your Support of the 2015 Annual Campaign:
