Thank you for visiting Cancer Kinship's Year-End Campaign Page!

The year 2020 has been quite a year! It presented many unique organizational challenges that tested not only Cancer Kinship's resiliency and grit, but also our clients'. Yet, despite these challenges, we have been able to weather the storm, with help from our community, and we are thankful! Community support has empowered us to meet the needs of the cancer community and through the use of technology, we are positioned and eager to grow.

We are in the home stretch! As we move into the last two months of the year, we are leaning on our community, once more, to help us raise much-needed funds that will enable us to move our mission forward. The needs of the cancer community continue to grow and we need your help.

To support our fund and awareness-raising efforts, we created a virtual fashion show experience for the community. We hope that you will consider joining our efforts by hosting a virtual viewing party with your circle of friends, family, colleagues and community. Individual 'on-demand' viewing options are available as well. We are also accepting straight donations through this platform that will go towards our year-end goal of $45,000! Monthly recurring gifts can be made online by visiting our website's donation page

Interested in hosting a viewing party? Let's chat! Click here to complete our fashion show viewing party interest form and we will contact you to discuss further.

Thank you for your consideration and support! To learn more about Cancer Kinship, please visit our website at www.cancerkinship.org and by following us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).

ABOUT THE FASHION SHOW

Our fashion show, "Brave, Bold & Boundless" is mission-aligned and designed to build community while empowering cancer patients through a fashion experience. Our fashion show features eight courageous cancer warrior who participated as models for the show.

Empowerment through a Fashion Experience - In preparation for the show, we engaged our models in various empowerment activities and workshops that were designed to create human connections, build their confidence and boost self-esteem. Activities included our model orientation that facilitated introductions where the participants had an opportunity to meet each other, share their cancer stories and connect with fellow survivors. Our models worked with our volunteer fashion show consultant who assisted with hair and makeup coaching, runway walking, and fashion selections.

Virtual Fashion Show Details - Unlike traditional fashion shows, the fashions were showcased in a COVID-safe environment: from the comfort of our models' homes. All outfits were selected from their own wardrobes. The highlight of the show was not the fashions, but the celebration of life through a fashion experience that showcased our models' resiliency and grit. Videos were captured throughout the entire experience and were stitched together in a high-energy virtual fashion show event format that viewers can now enjoy from the comfort of their own homes. This event helps build community while celebrating life.

By watching the show, you will learn about Cancer Kinship's mission and goals, will "meet" the models during their model introductions, and you will enjoy a fun fashion experience set to exciting and upbeat music and a virtual runway from the safety of our model's homes. You will get a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of what it took to pull together this event! Lastly, you will learn how to get involved with Cancer Kinship as we close the night with a message of gratitude and inspiration for the community. We hope you can join us by checking out the various viewing options!

Cancer is scary. Your life doesn't have to be.

ABOUT CANCER KINSHIP - Our mission is to empower cancer patients to confidently face the disease through peer mentorship, survivor empowerment & education, socialization and resource navigation provided by caring and compassionate volunteers and staff. Our programs alleviate distress and isolation, and address many mental health challenges experienced by cancer patients and survivors. We offer practical tools, tips and knowledge to help our participants cope, not only with their diagnosis, treatments, and surgeries, but also with the extreme isolation and increased fear due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can learn more about Cancer Kinship's programs here.

CANCER & COVID - As we continue to adjust and cope with the impact of COVID-19, one thing continues to ring true for us at Cancer Kinship: Cancer Does Not Care About COVID-19 ! Many patients are still hearing the words, “ You have cancer,” while attending doctor appointments alone and going to chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries without much-needed support due to continued social distancing requirements. The impact on long-term impact of COVID-19 for the cancer community is yet to be seen, but the inequalities of the pandemic are coming to light every single day. Questions are unanswered, fear continues to rise, and hope seems far away.

COVID RESPONSE BY CANCER KINSHIP - While the out pour of community support is primarily focused on greatly needed safety net programs that address food insecurity and housing crises, and with the recent shift to social justice and environment, we at Cancer Kinship have continued to move our mission forward despite recent financial challenges due to cancelled in-person grassroots fundraising events and redirected grant funding. We are grateful for the support we received from our close network through social media fundraising campaigns and personal gifts from our Executive Advisory Council and community members. Their support helped us remain fiscally strong, thereby empowering us to reach important organizational milestones amid the pandemic.

We are proud to share that we transitioned 100% of our programs online and through the use of technology, we connect with patients who are experiencing extreme isolation as social distancing continues. Additionally, the community partnerships we've secured since Cancer Kinship launched in November 2018, has allowed us to successfully connecting the cancer community with resources they need to put food on their tables, pay their rent and mortgages, navigate through a job and medical insurance losses, access professional mental health services, and so much more. We are breaking geographic barriers with virtual services as we continue to reach patients and survivors from across the nation from our home base in Southern California. We are thankful for the many silver linings we've experienced throughout the last six months, but our work is not done!

HOW YOU CAN HELP - As the needs of the cancer community continue to grow, Cancer Kinship continues to adapt and grow to meet their growing needs. We need your help to keep us on a solid financial footing that will enable us to keep doing our important. As we move into the final stretch of 2020, we are asking our community members to join forces with Cancer Kinship by helping to spread the word about our programs and with your financial support. Our hope is that this event will serve as a catalyst for our program expansion to reach even more patients who need us now more than ever before. We are committed to making this fashion show not just a fun and unique virtual experience that brings the community together, but also the most successful fundraising event to date!

Let's join forces and transform fear into hope!
