Hello friends...
I'm trying out a new social media platform, Mastadon, invitation below. So far I like it. It's reasonably independent, and moderated for spam and incivility, though not in a heavy-handed way. I'm still getting the hang of it but it seems pretty straightforward...just choose your own user name and use a preferred email address. You can post your own content and invite your friends by email address or post the invitation link on other social media. Hopefully FB doesn't have a problem with members asserting their independence by extending invitations to other venues and platforms. I've invited you here, to my blog, and to my Zenfolio galleries, which I intend to renew tomorrow for another year.
As a reminder, I also have a relationship with Holland Photo in South Austin should anyone be interested in prints, and I have a few copies left of my book.
Please let me know what you think about Mastadon, and feel free to continue to invite new folks to join the party.
I'd also like to invite you to support my efforts to share my nostalgic meanderings with you by subscribing to my Blog for as little as $5 a month, plus the admin fee, if you please. If your means allow I very much appreciate larger donations.
Much gratitude to loyal subscribers and new ones: thank you Margaret Creamer, Bonnie Cook-Kassens, Tim Mateer, Kathy Catmull, Joaquin Hancock, and Austin Jernigan.
Thanks to major donors Shannon Sedwick, Marek Pakulski, sister Leah and brother Gregg, Lucy King all the way from Ixtapa, Bill McMillin, and others.
Thank you to Stephen Walker at Modern Rocks Gallery, the numerous friends and professionals who have supported this work and continued to make it possible, to John Reidy and the staff of the Austin Creative Alliance for serving as fiscal sponsor of my project as well as for their tireless work to sustain so many other projects, to Hector Saldana, David Coleman and other staff at the Wittliff Collection whose acquisition seeded the ACA project fund, to Joe Nick Patoski who made that introduction.
Thank you, Stacy Suits, for tireless public service, for helping guide this work as Project Director, and for championing me for decades ever since he followed service of an eviction notice with an invitation to live rent-free at his place while I regrouped.
Thank you to Janelle Buchanan, Kathy Grant, Cecelia Burke, and so many more of you for a seemingly inexhaustible reservoir of loyalty, love, and generosity. What a profound metaphor for the greatest blessing imaginable with which a photographer could be anointed: Capacity to perceive the beauty of a double rainbow with a range of vision that extends from horizon to horizon, infinity to infinity, from forever to forever.
Thank you to everyone who continues to encourage, appreciate, reminisce, and bear witness to this collaborative effort to invite these artifacts of our collective nostalgia to the boogie in the realm of the unforgotten.
As I continue to progress towards my goal of completely digitizing and restoring the 100,000 + images that comprise my archive I intend to regularly update you about my progress and other activities and meandering musing, to post new work in my public galleries, and invite your anecdotes, identifications, and commentary which I regard as priceless supplements to my ultimate intention of compiling as comprehensive and accurate an offering as possible to one or more of the growing network of public repositories with which Austin is so richly blessed, and to my more immediate priority of fomenting a phenomenal frenzy of amazement, for myself, and for anyone else who digs that dance as much as I do.
Here's an invitation to Mastadon:

Please look for links to my public galleries there.
On to whatever comes next. We published a book. The Wittliff
Collection acquired 71 prints. The Austin Creative Alliance
agreed to manage funds as fiscal sponsor for the ongoing
effort to scan this archive and make it accessible.
