Entre Dos Cielos
A Modern Circus World Premiere Celebrating the Cultures of Texas and Mexico
Entre Dos Cielos is a new multidisciplinary performance bringing together contemporary circus, dance, original live music by Deadman , and visual storytelling. Created by artists from Texas and Mexico, the production draws from the traditions, histories, and experiences shared across both sides of the border.
Earlier this year, the core artistic team traveled to Cuernavaca, Mexico , for an artist residency at Centro Cultural Teopanzolco . There, internationally recognized Cirque du Soleil choreographer Edgar Zendejas worked alongside Cirque Vida , Deadman , and artists from both countries to develop the production. That time together in Mexico shaped the movement, music, and ideas at the center of the work, with themes of heritage, migration, resilience, and belonging emerging throughout the creative process.
Now, the focus turns to Lockhart, Texas , where Entre Dos Cielos will make its world premiere at the Gerry Ohlendorf Performing Arts Center , October 9-11, 2026 .
In partnership with Lockhart ISD , the production will feature students from the Lockhart High School Mariachi Program , who will rehearse and perform alongside the professional cast and creative team. The students are not simply appearing in the production—they are becoming part of the work and the exchange that began during the residency in Mexico.
For these young musicians, it is a chance to experience the creation of a new professional production from the inside. For the artists, it is an opportunity to bring what was developed in Mexico into conversation with the community where the work will first meet an audience.
As we prepare for the world premiere, support for Entre Dos Cielos helps cover the work still ahead: artist and production costs, rehearsals, student mentorship, technical needs, and the many pieces required to bring a new circus production to the stage.
What began in Cuernavaca is now coming to life in Lockhart. We’re excited to share Entre Dos Cielos for the first time here in Texas, with the artists, students, families, and community members who are helping make it possible.
