In 2018, my life forever changed. After coming back from an overseas vacation, little did I know parasites had entered my system. All of a sudden the lifelong GERD I had turned into regurgitating all foods including water. Before I knew it, I was down to 70 pounds. All my bodily functions began to shut down and I could hardly walk or talk from the severe reflux. I would rarely have bowel movements and when I did, none of the food I had was actually digested. On Christmas Eve 2018 I decided to do an elemental diet for two weeks because I could not keep any food down. Those two weeks were probably the hardest moments I have faced in this journey. I began to mourn how my life used to be, I began to mourn the joy and taste of food. Thankfully I can now digest smoothies and even solids, although my food choices are still very limited. At only 20 years old, I came to a place where I realized that if I was going to beat this storm, I would need to approach this in a holistic manner. After seeing multiple specialists, I decided to see a Naturopath. Through several tests, we found I developed hypoglycemia, severe malabsorption of food, Leaky Gut, multiple infections, bacterial overgrowth, Liver distress, Kidney distress, and several other issues. Due to malabsorption issues, my body is struggling to absorb the nutrients it needs. Vitamin IV infusions are the best way to combat this issue to ultimately gain the weight I need. Some days are hard and my voice loss issues are quite isolating. My family has supported me wholeheartedly and for that, I am forever grateful! Due to being in school full time and not working many hours, the financial responsibility has fallen mainly on my family. I would like to be able to contribute to my journey to health.
