Lauren Fry hasn't added a story.
This hand-hewn timber structure needs its foundation repaired and resided with local pine. The hay loft is in good shape and will be a wonderful meeting place when the renovations are complete and electricity installed. It will cost $21,000 beyond the work underway now.
We need 210 donations of $100. Each donation will be honoured on the barn’s 4ever plaque with the donor’s (or honouree’s) name.
Please Support 4ever!
This is a great opportunity to do something for arguably the most important land in North America, located on and near the Canada USA border. All land is important and much of it is incredibly beautiful, but this spot is unique in its use by animals and even plants, for migration. See why in the above video. You'll be surprised!
We are the Thousand Islands Watershed Land Trust(TIWLT), a not-for-profit charity, registered in Canada and supported in the USA. When you help TIWLT you help save specific places 4ever! Because we are a non-government entity, a future government can never change its mind and take a TIWLT property for another use. As a legal trust, we truly protect property FOREVER, for plants and animals and non-invasive activities. For contributions of $50 and over, you can receive a tax receipt for income tax filings. Select a campaign to support and for every $100 you donate, a name of your choosing will be added to our “4ever Wall”.
We are raising money and support for what will be TIWLT’s “Glen Elbe: Experiential Learning Centre”.In 2018, a remarkable woman named Jane Topping, passed away and generously donated her Glen Elbe farm property and home to TIWLT. The 111-acre property sits on local source waters and was first settled in the late 1700s. In addition to being good farmland, it was on a rare, government-maintained highway, and had an excellent waterfall – a prized power source, ready to be harnessed. By 1805, a sawmill was supplying boards and timbers for nearby pioneer settlements and a grist mill was added in 1818. The ruins of the old mills are hidden away on almost forgotten paths, waiting for new TIWLT explorers!Jane’s home, had served as a post-office and stagecoach stop on the Brockville – Perth road in the mid 1800s. Stops were every 6 miles in order that the hard-driven horses could be changed for fresh ones. Passengers would disembark and enjoy the gardens and a refreshment before continuing on their way. As one of Canada’s newer and well-used roads, it was eventually covered in planks to provide a smoother and quieter ride! We are looking for volunteers to help with gardening, pruning, carpentry and trail maintenance, but we have four initiatives that require financial support. |
Please select a campaign you would like to support at Glen Elbe and give generously.Imagine bringing your family here to participate in the Glen Elbe Experiential Centre and your children can see their names on the 4ever wall! For every $100 donated, a donor’s name will be added to the “4ever Wall” as a 12" x 4" plaque with hand-written name and whatever special date you like. $200 can have two names. Consider this an opportunity to make a 4ever gift that will be displayed within the Glen Elbe restoration … literally forever! Please select from one of our four Glen Elbe restoration campaigns and help Glen Elbe grow. It makes a great gift for any occasion. Births, birthdays, anniversaries, favourite pet and more. Please pick a campaign, donate and tell your friends!
Tax receipts will be issued as per rules of Canada Revenue Agency or in the USA, the IRS.
