My name is Star and I have been doing the Walk for Animals for a few years now.  My lab is a rescue from Animal Allies.  She had to go through two ACL surgeries which had to be done prior to me adopting her.  I fostered her during these surgeries.  She has been and still is the best dog ever!  This shelter does take the best care of their animals and love to see when they go home to their new forever families!

True facts about owning pets:

Pets can help you maintain an active lifestyle

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pet ownership has been shown to help lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels and feelings of loneliness.

Every year, six to eight million dogs wait to be adopted from animals shelters — so many that millions are euthanized each year due to overcrowding.

Adopting a shelter animal not only gives your pet a second chance in a happy home, but can also save it from being euthanized in an overcrowded shelter.

By taking home your new pet, you also make room at the shelter for another animal with nowhere else to go.

Adopting makes the marketplace less available to puppy mills.

Many shelter animals are already housetrained.

One of the big myths about shelter pets is that all of them have behavioral issues or have been rescued from abuse. Many shelter animals, however, end up there because their owners can no longer care for them.

The reasons to adopt could go on forever!

Please help sponsor this walk as it is for such a good cause!
