Tracy Bax hasn't added a story.
Peter Kamau is a Kenyan citizen and has worked as a local staff member for the United Nations for 7 years. He was stationed in Mogadishu, Somalia for 8 months. In December 2016 he caught TB which developed into pnemonia. He's been on life support and has had access to a good medical facility, The Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi. The UN medical aid insurance will only cover a certain amount and this has now been depleted. The UN does not have money to cover Peter's additional medical bills, nor settle the outstanding amount. We are going to have to move Peter to a cheaper hospital as he still requires ICU medical treatment. In the long term, he will need care until he is strong enough to resume his everyday life. The local staff and some international staff members are donating to help pay for the medical bill outstanding for the Aga Khan and for his further treatment. We are actively seeking another more affordable hospital, but they require a minimum 5000 US dollars as a deposit before accepting him. If he would to be discharged, he would not survive as he is on a ventilator and is still considered critical.
I'm asking that if anyone has any spare money and could donate for us to help Peter, it would be so very much appreciated. I will keep a record of all money depostied into the Paypal account and the money will go directly to the medical facility in Nairobi. I'll keep everyone updated on his progress.
Peter is a very kind person. He's honest and hard working. I was based in Nairobi for a few years and his support and help made my and the children's stay in Kenya wonderful. I'm so grateful for all he did for us. He dedicated time, effort, energy, love and compassion towards my family and I owe him a debt of gratitude.
