Arvi
When asked about Arvi, there’s a lot that could be said. He was a
fun-loving young man with a zest for life. He loved to explore and
travel the world, full of adventures- jumping out of a plane, racing
cars on a track, pulling things apart and fixing them. He could build
absolutely anything and was up for any challenge from a light up ugly
Christmas sweater to installing a carwash in a garage. His sense of
humor was next level leaving you in fits of laughter, or leave you
wondering if you were the butt of his joke. He had a remarkable
ability to connect with people from every walk of life and every
generation. Arvi was the light of our family and the kind of friend
everyone was grateful to have. He took care of his parents, spoke
proudly of his two children, and is loved and missed by an enormous
circle of family and friends.
Following a tragic brain injury, Arvi passed away at the age of
55. He is survived by his parents, his younger sister, his brother,
and his two beloved children, aged 16 and 19.
Even in his final moments, Arvi continued to help others.
Together, his family and children came to mutual decision to donate
his organs through the Give Life Alberta program to save
others.
Arvi was a guardian angel that always had your back. He
was the glue that held us together: our tower, our pillar, our
fortress, and our source of strength. What keeps us going is knowing
that his one life saved several other lives. Those individuals were
given a new life and their future generations will continue because of
Arvinder Sagoo. That guardian angel will watch us from above.
Donations in his name will be made to the Neuro ICU where Arvi
was taken care of by a compassionate team. This initiative takes
possibility to progress. The call to donate empowers us to believe we
are making a difference and creating a movement in his name, one
Edmontonian to another.
The proceeds will go to the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at
the University of Alberta Hospital, one of only two dedicated critical
care units in Canada. It will impact patient care directly with state
of the art infrastructure and expansion, rehabilitation, advancing
research to help treat patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic
brain injuries, strokes and so much more.
Through this initiative, Arvi’s legacy of helping others will
continue—bringing hope, advancing care, and changing lives for years
to come.
