The Tutorial School hasn't added a story.
Introduction:
Please take a moment to read a letter from Justin Anaya Lewis, a student from The Tutorial School, which is located in provincial and insular, multi-ethnic, poverty stricken State of New Mexico. Justin and other driven, self-motivated and empowered students at The Tutorial School is fundraising to take part in a youth centered, international educational conference in South Korea this summer with like-minded academics and youths from over thirty countries. Please support our students dreams to see the world, contribute to the dialogue of democratic education and help expand their horizons.

Hello,
my name is Justin Anaya Lewis. I was born in Santa Fe and I've
been here my whole life. In fact, I've never been away from the Rocky Mountains.
The school I attend, The Tutorial School, is going on a trip this summer to an education conference in Korea, with an opportunity to spend some time in Japan.
I'm really curious and eager to experience the rest of the world. I know there is more out there than what I see every day. I have heard a lot about the world but would rather see it first hand than hear about it from someone else.
My parents can't afford to pay for this trip. I'm working odd jobs, but I can't do this alone. I need some help to raise $4,000. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
The school is doing a fund raising campaign through social media and we would be happy to mention you or your business there, if you like. Also, since I'm learning photography, I'll have collection of printed images to share with you when I get back. Thank you!
The Tutorial School - a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so your donations will be tax deductible.
Thank you for helping me expand my horizons. The ignorant mind is blind.
Sincerely,
Justin Lewis
Student, The Tutorial School

Background:
A hand up can take the down trodden and dispirited to empowered and inspired.
The Tutorial School is located in provincial and insular, multi-ethnic, poverty stricken State of New Mexico. Many of the students who attend The Tutorial School run the risk of being categorized as at-risk youth if not for an open and inclusive environment The Tutorial School provides for its students to foster their love for learning. Several of our students have never been out of the state, they don't know what is out there or of what they are capable. Too often, their economic backgrounds restrict them from experiencing the world. The school has been a safe haven for these creative youths who have genuine love and drive for leaning and we want to widen their horizons by taking them on a journey abroad.
Since 2000, The Tutorial School has been taking students and members of the school’s community to an international education conference, held in a different country each year. The International Democratic Education Conference (IDEC) is an annual academic and youth conference hosted by a variety of schools and organizations in cities around the world. Hundreds of people, academics, educators, students and youth usually from more than thirty countries, attend the annual conference. The students are able to meet with other youths from around the world to discuss issues related to their education.
Throughout the weeklong conference, they talk about education, share their cultures, have fun together, and adopt international resolutions on education. By taking part in the conference, they are empowered to come up with their own solutions to problems they face in the educational system. Besides building bridges across disparate cultures, they gain an objective view of their own lives and see the vast array of possibilities that this world has to offer. This year the conference will take place in South Korea from July 27 - August 3. Your donation will cover transportation, registration and some of the daily expenses of their stay in South Korea.
These students go on to lead very interesting and inspired lives. 100% of students who have traveled with us abroad have gone on to college, and some continue to live their lives outside of New Mexico and the US, leading very successful lives. Please donate and help us give a student a once in a lifetime opportunity of traveling abroad this summer. Time is running out as tickets get more and more expensive as it approaches the dates for departure.
