Mercaz Academy: Five Years Strong and Growing
All Jewish holidays draw our attention to how we have grown over the years. Chanukah especially focuses us on our responsibilities on each distinct day. We at Mercaz reflect on these milestones. Since opening our doors under the Mercaz banner five years ago in 2022, we have grown enrollment by 25% and introduced new academic programs that have meaningfully enriched our students’ education. And each and every day, Mercaz delivers on its commitment to educate each child with excellence and build character in our students. We are proud of what we’ve built: a school with a strong foundation and a bright future.
A Strong Foundation, Supported by Our Community
Mercaz is on solid financial footing, but sustaining and building on that strength depends on our community’s continued generosity. Tuition covers approximately 60% of our operating expenses. Government support and rental income from groups that use our beautiful property add to that, but the remainder comes from you, our dedicated donors. Your generosity makes possible the quality of education and programming our school is dedicated to provide.
Meeting Today’s Challenges While Investing in Tomorrow
As we are committed to keeping tuition as low as reasonably possible, our costs continue to rise. Inflation continues to increase our operating expenses, yet we remain mindful of the burden tuition already places on families. We provide substantial tuition assistance for those in need and introduce programs to assist families financially. Our new breakfast and lunch program, provided at no cost to families, saves parents approximately $1,000 to $1,500 per child each year. These and other investments in our students and families reflect the kind of community we are and aspire to be.

We take the responsibility of providing an outstanding education seriously. Our goal is not simply to educate children, but to help each one grow into a person of integrity, compassion, strong character, and Jewish pride.
Today, Mercaz welcomes families from 21 Jewish communities across Central Long Island, representing a broad spectrum of affiliation and observance. Many have chosen to move their children from public school to join the Mercaz community.
