Hello and welcome to Eastside Boxing Club’s 2024 Rumble Fundraiser! Contenders sign up and endure three months of training for the chance to step in to the ring for a fight on August 22nd. For what, you may ask?
Eastside Boxing Club is located in Downtown Eastside Vancouver. It is a beautiful and unique place, but not without its challenges. Drug abuse and homelessness are struggles many people face in this area. Eastside Boxing Club was started to help knock out (ha ha) these problems. The main way the club is helping is by providing free training, classes, and mentorship to youth in the area. Youth are able to join a close-knit community and meet new friends and mentors who can guide them as they grow up in this difficult area, all at no cost to them. Boxing is about respect for yourself and respect for others, and along with hard work and healthy living all these qualities are instilled into trainees. Your donation to keep this club up and running has tangible benefits on many kids’ lives, and we thank you for your generosity!
After moving to Vancouver I joined Eastside Boxing Club and have met many new friends here. Coaches and mentors have experience in the ring, as well as the ability to share that experience with others. They know what you’re doing wrong and will correct it right away! I’m looking forward to the next three months of fundraising and hard work to help support this gym, as well as the chance on August 22nd to step into the ring and fight a fellow contender! I can't bring a lot of skills into the ring, but hopefully I can bring a lot of donations in for the Club! Again, your donation enables Vancouver youth to have access to training and a community that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Your donation helps set them up for success in life, and in the ring! So thank you for your donation, and we’ll see you on August 22nd!
Training updates and information on ticket sales to come! We hope to have a livestream of the event as well!
Hey Vancouver,
It's that time of year again... Eastside Rumble 2024!
Eastside Rumble 2024 will provide much needed funds to support Eastside Boxing Club's free mentorship and training programs for individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in recreational sports.
Later that year, the Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association was established and organized the first annual Restaurant Rumble, a fight-night fundraiser that raised over $100,000 to open a new gym: Eastside Boxing Club. AFG and Eastside were developed by a small group of professionals and entrepreneurs who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk youth. The new club also offered outreach programs specifically for women, survivors of domestic violence, frontline workers, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. These programs were designed to offer free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in recreational sports. After only six months of operation, a devastating fire forced the club to close. Again, with help from the community and another successful Restaurant Rumble, Eastside was reborn in 2014 in the historic Chinatown neighbourhood at 238 Keefer Street, continuing on the mission to provide boxing training and mentorship opportunities for anyone that is interested in learning the sport, particularly providing a space for youth to train for free. With the advent of Covid and barely surviving the slow return to life, Eastside Boxing Club gratefully rose from the ashes, yet again. We are still fighting to keep the gym alive and we need your help. We are excited to launch Eastside Rumble 2024. Open to all professions, shapes, sizes, skill level and abilities. Show your support by contributing much needed funds to these contenders campaigns to give them the opportunity to fight and to keep Eastside Boxing Club and it's programs living. Thank you! |

For
more than 30 years the Astoria Boxing Club ran a non-profit
youth program that provided a safe space and mentorship for
at-risk youth in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. In the Spring of
2012, the gym’s funding was cut and the club was forced to close
its doors.
