There are days that we take what we do in stride, and there are days that strike us to the core and break our hearts. Today is one of those days....

A terribly sad picture showed up on one of the many websites we monitor of a tiny little female dachshund that was en route to one of our partner shelters. Our intake team immediately sent an email asking if this little girl needed our help.

The quick reply was "Yes, please. And come quickly!"

Into the Pamblance our pres went and within minutes had her and headed to LeadER Animal Specialty Hospital where Dr. Rosainz was waiting for her. We named her Milagros, hoping for the miracle that she so deserves.

Her list of injuries is extensive and her prognosis is guarded at this point until we can get a full evaluation of her injuries.
Here is what we know so far:
Extremely underweight
Cold to the touch (from shock)
Palpable instability of the mandible (indicates a broken jaw)
Puncture wounds in many areas with green pus discharge
Cannot stand on right front leg
Not able to walk
Possible injuries to both back legs, but unable to assess at this time.

She is currently on a warmer to help get her body temperature up, she is getting fluids through an IV and good pain meds. Once she's a little more stable, X-rays will be taken and bloodwork will be done. We will then be able to assess her injuries and come up with a treatment plan.

We have had many high vet bill cases lately and really need your help to get Milagros the care she needs and deserves.

As always, it is YOUR compassion and generosity that makes Doxie dreams of safety and love come true. Even $1 gets us closer to the funding finish line and Milagros sends her love and thanks for making her care possible!!
