#StandWithTracy campaign October 2021 update:

It has now been 20 months since my mother was wrongfully arrested on March 3, 2020. That night my mom survived a domestic violence attack during which her abuser died. My mother has maintained her innocence from that very first night. Many motions have been filed in the case by my mom’s legal team, but a trial date is still not set. This injustice seems to have no end.

My mom was held at Rikers for nearly 7 months, experiencing many of the hellish conditions that are being written so much about in the last month. Thanks to the efforts of many, she was released home on electronic monitoring, which comes with its own trauma. Courts are slowly opening back up, but this is proving to be an excruciatingly slow process.    

The Manhattan DA’s election is currently underway. We need you standing up and speaking out for her release, so that the next DA can do what Cy Vance’s office didn’t, which is to stand with survivors, instead of criminalizing them.

We are optimistic as to the eventual outcome, but we have no idea how long it will go or what road it will take. Her hospital has made the horrible decision to bar her from returning to work citing fear of damage to their reputation if they stand with a survivor of domestic abuse. We think this is unconscionable; her RN license isn’t revoked, and she has not been convicted of any crime.

This is why we keep the fundraiser going. It makes no sense that a survivor fights for their freedom only to be faced with bankruptcy and homelessness. Please, if you are able, DONATE what you can. Anything helps.
