Hi everyone. A lot has happened since the #StandWithTracy campaign first launched. As you may know, I created this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, Tracy McCarter, who was held at Riker’s Island from March 3, 2020, until being released on September 25, 2020. A domestic violence incident occurred between Tracy and her now late husband, Jim, that resulted in his passing. Let me be clear, she is innocent of these charges.

Thanks to the support and efforts of my family, friends, and all of you, she was released home on electronic monitoring. This victory is one that YOU ALL helped us to fight for. We cannot express enough the gratitude we feel for all of your help to get us to this point.

Though being home is a relief, and it is a huge one, our work isn’t over. Until the Manhattan DA’s office agrees to #DropHerCharges , we cannot stop. With supporters joining her cause, she fought Columbia University to allow her to continue her master’s degree. This unjust prosecution also continues to interfere with her ability to go back work.

We are asking for your continued support. Her next court date is December 15, 2020. We need you standing up and speaking out for her release. We will be organizing for support inside, if allowed, and outside of the courthouse.

We are optimistic as to the eventual outcome, but we have no idea how long it will go or what road it will take. With this in mind, we have made the decision to keep the fundraiser going. Please continue to spread the word and, if you are able, to donate what you can. But more importantly, please share her story. Let’s make sure the Manhattan DA knows she is not alone in the fight for justice!
