Ann Faison hasn't added a story.
Kimberly Morgan is an amazing woman. In the past few years she has endured the loss of her mother and now her husband, both to cancer, with incredible strength and grace. Now she is the single parent to two teenagers who are grieving a profound loss.
Having lost my mother to cancer as a teen I know how hard this is going to be for Violet and Owen. Kimberly and I have talked a lot about her concerns and ways to help them cope. She wants to do everything she can to support them, which means taking care of her needs, as well as theirs.
So I was very happy, several weeks ago, when Kimberly told me she had found therapists for herself and the kids that they all like and trust. This is so important, and wonderful that they have already established these relationships with professionals who can help support them.
For Kimberly and the kids, therapy has already been a big help. But the cost is substantial. For all of them to see a therapist once a week, it is $500/per week. If they do that for two years, the cost is $50,000.
I heard a story today of a parent who threw money in a jar every time she felt she had caused her children undue pain. She called it the therapy jar. We all need a therapy jar for the challenges our kids will undoubtedly face, and Violet and Owen could really use those funds now.
Please consider donating whatever you can to help support them during this period of great loss and sadness.
