Our Mission:

To work towards a socially-just transition for the City of Framingham, away from fossil fuel dependence to local resilience.

Transition Framingham facilitates grassroots, local problem solving to create environmentally sustainable solutions and increase community resiliency.

Current Focus:

Supporting food growers and children’s educational garden programs;

Increasing the number of community gardens and expanding access to land, information resources and mentors to all Framingham residents.

Your donation supports:

*Annual Garden Tour visiting community and back yard gardens throughout Framingham providing inspiration and exchange of ideas and skills.

* 500 pounds/year of fresh, local produce grown by Framingham Community Farm volunteers and donated to A Place to Turn;

*Hands on experience for children to learn where food comes by growing and trying new foods through the Open Spirit Nourishing Gardens Children’s Garden program at Pelham Apartments Lifelong Learning Center;

*Existing and New Community Gardens where residents meet neighbors, learn new skills and mentor new growers;

*Community movie events about sustainability at local libraries.

What We Do:

For over 10 years, Transition Framingham has facilitated residents with a variety of backgrounds, experience, skills and ideas to connect, incubate and launch local projects impacting issues such as the waste stream, local food production and access,  and cleaning up our city. We strive for our initiatives  to be culturally inclusive, equitable in access, and representative of the vision and voices of the rich diversity of the Framingham community.

Successful Launches:

Annual Garden Tour - learn about Framingham and connect with your neighbors, find inspiration for growing food and helping pollinators

Repair Cafe - volunteers with skills and tools fix appliances, electronics, clothing… and give them new life. (in partnership with the Framingham Rotary Club)

Seed Lending Library -  enable residents to grow food - vegetable seeds available to all gardeners at both library branches (in partnership with Framingham Public Libraries)
