My name is Jordanna Saunders. I'm the founder and CEO of Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona. As a Diné (Navajo) woman, I know what it's like to grow up in a community that lacks access to essential mental health. I have seen and experienced first-hand what happens when healing and reconciliation doesn’t occur in a systemic and sustained manner. My work, our work is personal. I lost a brother to suicide, and another brother to Covid-19, compounded by alcoholism.
Veterans, Indigenous and people of color/people from underserved communities experience shortened life spans and reduced quality of life. Indigenous women experience violence at much higher rates than non-Indigenous women & often deal with PTSD with little to no professional support. For these reasons and more, our work focuses on improving access to trauma informed mental health offerings utilizing technology to heal communities.

Thousands of teens, adults, and families across Arizona face barriers to mental health care due to low wages, being under insured, lacking technology to connect to care or trying to survive while lacking insurance altogether. Without access to affordable services, many suffer in silence, unable to get the help they need.
We’re changing that.
At Trauma Recovery Services of Arizona, we provide trauma-informed, culturally competent counseling and low/no-cost mental health services to underserved communities. Our goal is to provide 20% of our services to be given at low or no cost. We are piloting a tablet lending program to bridge the infastructure gap that many rural and Tribal communities face. But, we can’t do it alone. To retain offering these life-saving services, we need your support. Not only do we need to provide these services, we are working to provide living wages for our team, as we also expand access to affordable care.

- $130 covers a crisis intervention session for someone uninsured.
- $250 supports training for a culturally competent trauma trained counselor.
