Our Story
Mun will forever be remembered by his wife, young daughter, parents, sister, in-laws and a large close-knit family across North America and beyond. We all have wonderful memories of his infectious laugh and thoughtful, caring mannerisms. He was loved by all that knew him due to his personable nature and great sense of humour, and optimism. He worked hard to rise in the ranks at his workplace and made a big impression with colleagues during his shortened career, and will be affectionately remembered as one of their best leaders.
Our Cause
As the leading heart institute in Western Canada, the Maz has the best and brightest healthcare team to care for the most complex and chronic cardiac patients. Patients come to the Maz from not only Edmonton, but from all over northern Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. By volume, the Maz is the second largest life support program in North America, and its right in our back yard.
Thanks to your generosity & support, the SuperMun & Friends Charity Golf Tournament has raised more than $64,000 for Cardiac Research & Care in Alberta. Your support has allowed the physicians & researchers at the Maz to change to world and save countless lives. Strokes can now be treated in minutes on a world class Stroke Ambulance, patients can live full lives with a mechanical heart (VAD-Ventricular Assistant Device), and diagnosing even the most complex conditions is faster and more accurate thanks to home-grown innovative technology.
From eye-popping imaging that gives doctors crystal clear – and even 3D – images of the heart to a state-of-the-art cardiovascular intensive care unit, the Maz has some of the most advanced equipment, technology and work environments in the world.
