🎮 Level Up Computer Science

Many students discover their passion for computer science through the world of games — not just playing them, but building them. However, common platforms like Unity or even PyGame come with steep learning curves, especially for multilingual learners, students with special learning needs, or those who haven’t yet had the chance to explore computer science. Too often, these early barriers lead to frustration that discourages further exploration of a field that is now essential in the age of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.

At Southridge High School, Computer Game Design is the most popular course in our Computer Science CTE Program of Study. To support our diverse learners and ensure everyone has a chance to succeed, we’re raising funds to provide each student in this semester’s and next semester’s Game Design classes (approximately 45–50 students) with an educational license for GDevelop — an intuitive, visual, web-based platform that makes game design accessible and fun. Your support does even more: it helps students earn college credit through Portland Community College (PCC). GDevelop is the tool used in PCC’s introductory game development course, and our Southridge class has already been approved for dual credit. But we need to remove the financial barrier to make this opportunity real for all students.

With your help, students will not only create their own games — they’ll earn college credit and gain confidence in a future-ready skillset. You’re not just funding licenses — you’re opening doors to learning, creativity, and careers in computer science.
