Rupes "Big Daddy" Whiting hasn't added a story.
I'm a 47 year-old, podgy pugilist who is aiming to retire 2-0 at the end of this campaign. I fought and HAD A BLAST in 2018. It was so much fun and it was so good for me. I lost 12 pounds and my mental health was superb all through training, oh, and the money REALLY helped the kids.
EastSide Boxing Gym is a massively under appreciated community gem that serves a wide range of clients, some of whom can afford it, and a bunch who simply cannot.
It's the kids in the after school programs that we raise money for in this campaign. Your donation helps to reverse the cycle of poverty by providing a safe, supportive environment, solid mentorship & nourishing food when the kids really need it. Every $20 buys fresh fruit and other "proper" food that kids need to grow and learn properly at school.
My community did a stellar job last year and helped me raise over my target of $2,000. Some boxers managed to raise over $13,000 so my $2,000 is just the start. Let's get there quickly and see where we can take this.
I'm already in training and I already hurt all over. This is no walk in the park, believe me. Last year it really helped me to know just how many people I had behind me. I even had people stay up at night in the UK watching the live stream. That kind of support helped me earn the nickname "Big Daddy". Your support this year will help me justify the monica.
I'll buy my biggest donor a ringside seat to be a part of the action on August 20th. It's a great event.
Let's get me ready to Rumble!!!!!!!
Founded in 2012, Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association is a non-profit organization focused on providing community outreach through the sport of boxing. Based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the organization was developed by a small group of professionals and entrepreneurs who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk women and youth. The program offers free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in such activities. The sport of boxing teaches discipline, respect, hard work and self-control. Training results in positive self-esteem, good health and camaraderie for its practitioners.
Restaurant Rumble 2019
Every year bartenders, chefs, dishwaters, servers, baristas and all sorts of individuals from the Gastown community get together to train at the Eastside Boxing Club to fight in Restaurant Rumble.
In order to attend training, each fighter is required to raise $2000 for charity before they can compete at the Rumble.
Check out the promo video from 2014
This year, the event will be held Tuesday, August 20th at the Commodore Ballroom. If you make a contribution or Follow this campaign, you'll be first to hear when tickets go on sale. And you will have a chance to see your friend get beat up, live, in person.
