4th grade Rocket Readers hasn't added a story.

“Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” - Maya Angelou

This year ⅓ of our fourth graders are coming to us at kindergarten through 2nd grade reading levels. Older students who are behind in reading are not motivated to read books that look like they are made for kindergarten. The solution lies in having books where the covers look engaging, and the kids can connect to the characters and pictures. A 10-year-old who is still learning the reading skills of a 1st grader deserves a book that helps him/her fall in love with reading.

Our 4th grade libraries are filled with 3rd and 4th grade level books, like Harry Potter, Warriors, Percy Jackson. These are great books for students who are at the 4th grade reading level! However, this year we need more books that are at a level for a beginner with a cover, design, characters, and story that can still engage a 10-year-old’s mind.

We have found so many books that will help these readers have pride as they choose a book that will still be at their level. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to buy them. You can change the future of these children’s lives, by donating to our classroom libraries. Just $20 could get 2-3 books that finally get a child excited to read.  We have 3 fourth grade classes with 31 students per class so we're hoping to raise $700 per class. When you donate, you also subscribe to the updates of our program. We want you to see the ongoing results of your donation, so we promise to show monthly updates about the impact you are making.
Thank you for making a difference!
