Palomacy has commissioned these light blue split aluminum leg bands engraved with PIGEONRESCUE.ORG as an affordable way to help improve a lost pet pigeon or dove’s likelihood of being helped and getting home. If someone finds your bird, the band directs them to our Palomacy website and with your information on file, we can try to help reunite you. (If you'd prefer, you can order custom leg bands with your own phone number, etc. from leg band companies online.)

PET BIRDS NEED PET PROTECTION

Palomacy, after thousands of rescues over 15 years, knows only too well how dangerous it is for pet birds to be out in the wild world. The most important thing is to keep our birds safe in the first place- always protected in our homes & safe aviaries, never out loose or free flown. Wild birds derive their security from their wild flock. Our pet birds depend on us to be kept safe. Palomacy requires our fosters and adopters to keep their birds safely contained and we strongly advise all pigeon and dove guardians against free roaming or flying because it so often results in injury or death. There is no domestic sky. Our pigeons and doves lost their ability to safely free fly as soon as they lost their wild heritage. ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN

Even so, accidents happen & our beloved birds can get loose which is why we created our PIGEONRESCUE.ORG leg bands. (Please read ESCAPE! Read This BEFORE an Escape Happens)

The light blue aluminum shows up well on their pink legs, makes them recognizable as a pet rather than wild bird (so more apt to get help) and when found, improves their chances of getting appropriate care and home safely. If your Palomacy-banded bird is ever lost, begin your recovery effort immediately.

IF YOUR BIRD GETS LOOSE

Notify everyone through neighborhood networks like NextDoor, online in your local lost pet groups and bird groups, local shelters, etc. (The more people are aware that you're looking for your lost bird, the more likely your bird will be recovered.) Immediately join and post to our Palomacy Help Group, alert us at Pigeonanddovelove@gmail.com and 415-851-5948 for help. Pigeons and doves are easy prey for ravens, gulls, hawks, owls, cats, dogs, raccoons, coyotes, rats & more and the longer they are out on their own, the worse their chances are. IF YOU ORDER PIGEONRESCUE.ORG BANDS

Our split aluminum bands are easy to open up a little, slip around your bird's leg and close with your fingers (no tool required). Your birds always prefer to be naked but they will, after a few foot stomps, adjust to wearing their leg band. These bands are very safe and we've not had any problems with them.
