Join the Collective!

It’s increasingly clear that art is our most powerful form of protest, and this is why we started doing community singalongs. Because raising our voices in unison is powerful. Because art is resistance. Because joy is resistance. Because unity is resistance. Because community is resistance.

We know how important arts ensembles are for kids, but it’s no less important for adults to have that outlet, too.

The communion of audience and performers is what makes live theater so powerful. Without an audience, live performance is meaningless. We are so thrilled that this concept seems to have resonated with so many of you. Raising our hands and voices together is the most powerful thing we can do.

It’s important to us that this event welcomes everyone so we don’t charge for admission. And while this is largely an endeavor of volunteers, there are still some expenses involved — such as the equipment needed to bring it all together (music stands, microphones — last time we bought an electric piano!) and venue expenses including fees for the sound engineer, rehearsal room rental fees, etc.

As important as it is for us to make sure the audience can come for free, it is equally important to acknowledge that the artists are volunteering their time to these projects. Until now we’ve covered our expenses out of our own pockets (and the generous donations of our friends), but we’d love to be able to give the artists more than travel expenses, a t-shirt, and dinner.

But that means we need to raise a little money. So if you believe in this project and want to pitch in, here’s your chance! We do have a fiscal sponsor and we can provide a receipt for you to submit with your taxes.
