April Massirio hasn't added a story.
Hello animal lovers,
Prince is a beautiful, abandoned orange tabby who will be getting his eye removed and I couldn't just turn the other cheek and ignore the fact he was badly injured.
The reason so is I have been a photographer for 12 years. I could not imagine the pain and life with a swollen, infected eye! There was no way I was going to leave Prince to suffer as his eye erupted only to most likely become infected, not to mention VERY painful. I knew something had to be done for treatment but also knew I could not afford it. I didn't want my lack of personal funds to stand in Prince's way.
Besides my work, I volunteer taking photos for a dog rescue organization Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue. My services include taking the dogs' glamour shots for adoption and producing the annual calendar to help raise funds. I've rescued a few stray dogs over the years and one cat who came to my yard shot.
That cat was surely a candidate for euthanasia but, my family paid to have him cast and once removed, I gave him physical therapy to build his muscle. Bob became a loyal and excellent mouse hunter for 14 years and eventually died of cancer.
Prince has a fitting name - he was rescued on 4/21/16 (R.I.P. Prince, the legend!). This Prince will also be a small legend. He was found with an old collar and very thin. With some leftovers he was fed. He returned for more and for two weeks was starting to fatten up. Then his eye!! He came with his injured eye and collar missing - bruised in cat battle! It can't stop him.
With hope in my heart, that he did actually belong to someone, I waited to see if he would still show up with his eye injured. He returned. Something had to be done because it was worse!
We headed to a shelter and they said he would be killed! Absolutely not. He is just so sweet. Prince will lose his eye but should not lose his life! The vet said he is a neutered male, domesticated, 1-3 years old and it is my only hope that once his stitches heal he will find a home with someone or a family who will unconditionally love him, his battle wounds, and not abandon him. He deserves it! We all deserve second chances.
The funds raised will go directly to his vet bill of exam, feline leukemia and hiv testing (that was highly recommended since he was stray), anesthesia, eye removal surgery, and antibiotics.
With the compassion in your heart, please help me pay for the treatment for Prince. A little goes a long way and any amount is so very much appreciated. From one believer that we should do our best being a voice for the voiceless, to another, thank you.
4/25/16 UPDATE: #prince is sporting his blue stitches and cone while settling into his foster home. He has a comfortable place to heal with lots of love for his 14 day healing process. The journey is not over to pay his vet bill, however. Your support for Prince is much appreciated!
